WHAT IS A PRODUCT PYRAMID?

Your product pyramid is the clear + impactful journey that your ideal client will take through all of the content, products, & services that you offer. 

 

As your ideal client moves up through each tier of the pyramid, the product + service offers become more impactful and — appropriately — more expensive because the higher up the offer is in the product pyramid, the more transformative that offer is to your client. 

 

I kinda made this term up to help me visualize where the content marketing, ascension model, & customer journey intersect + overlap.

THE BOTTOM OF THE PRODUCT PYRAMID

The bottom tier is basically your content marketing tier. It consists of your free content: blog posts, Instagram posts, Pinterest pins, YouTube videos, free trainings, etc.

 

This tier is where you turn a cold audience into a warm audience because people won’t care about your solution if they don’t even recognize that they have a problem.

THE SECOND TIER UP OF THE PRODUCT PYRAMID

The second tier up from the bottom of the product pyramid is the DIY + self-study content that you offer. Usually these are all digital products like eBooks, mini online workshops, & mini ecourses that are about a small + focused problem that your audience has.

 

The goal of these products is for you to help your audience achieve a small, bite-sized win. The transformation + outcome of the products in this tier needs to be small because if someone just “met” you & your business, they’re not going to be ready for your high-level + done-for-them + 1-on-1 programs that cost hundreds or thousands of dollars and that take weeks or months to complete.

 

If they don’t complete your program — and consequently don’t experience your transformation or outcome — then they won’t see you as someone who can solve their problem.

THE THIRD TIER UP OF THE PRODUCT PYRAMID

The 3rd tier up from the bottom is the Done With You content where you offer some kind of way for your clients + students to get feedback from you. 

 

That could be through group coaching, Facebook groups, email support, or any other way for people to get feedback + advice from you as they take your online course or program.

THE TOP TIER OF THE PRODUCT PYRAMID

The top of the pyramid is your offers that have the biggest impact and take your clients through the most transformative experiences out of all the things you offer. 

 

The type of offers in this tier are usually masterminds, 1 on 1 coaching, in-person multi-day destination retreats, and other highly impactful offers.

They say it’s 5-25x more expensive to attract new clients than it is to nurture + retain the clients you already have.
